David Kim's 36" x 48" Coastal View Framed Print
As the grandson of an art professor at a local university, David Kim, born in 1961 in Korea, held a talent within himself that was not discovered till he was in middle school. An art teacher recognized this exceptional talent and recommended further training. At that time he began experimenting with pastels and water colors.
After furthering his art studies, David Kim graduated from Pusan Art High School, and, in 1983, received a degree in Art. He later became an art instructor for the Art Institute in Korea, where he worked for three years.
Kim began traveling abroad in 1988 and spent time in France for study and development in his sketches and paintings. Kim fell in love with the country and resided in Paris and the province of South France for a time. These journeys are clear in his work, which reflects a love of the Mediterranean region with it¹s red roofed homes and white stucco hillside villas. Many of these great works are views looking down to the beaches and water, with boats resting gently at the shoreline.
