Fiesta 9-Inch, 13-1 4-Ounce 451 Rim Soup Bowl, White
Product Review
Fiestaware was introduced in 1936, discontinued in 1973, and resuscitated in 1986 for a public already consumed with collecting original Fiestaware. Today's Fiestaware merges old and new: the same molds are used to create the famous streamlined art deco design, but new colors and a lead-free glaze are contemporary enhancements. Build a Fiestaware collection by buying dinnerware and accessories all in one color, or buy pieces in assorted colors for a playful, eclectic set. These wide, flat bowls are great for soups, stews, pastas, or even sauce-covered casseroles or meats. The extended flat rim decreases the risk of spilling, and the shallow depth makes for a pretty presentation, especially when serving delicate soups with a dollop of crème fraîche or a sprig of fresh herbs. --Emily Wolf Product Description Perhaps the name "Fiesta" was chosen in 1936 because the famous collection comes in nine festive colors. The collection's solid colors all coordinate with one another, so feel free to mix and match. After all, what's a fiesta without mixing it up a bit? Reader Reviews We bought these bowls to replace some long out-of-production Mikasa stoneware bowls we've broken one by one over the years. These Fiesta bowls were as close to the shape and size of our everyday Mikasa bowls as we could find, so we gave them a try. They're great! First, the non-porous finish makes them very easy to clean. Even when we bake or microwave cheese onto the bowls, a brief soak and a few swipes with a warm soapy sponge gets all the stuck-on food off. Second, the size, shape, and depth of the bowls are perfect for our everyday needs. We eat a lot of stir fry and single-bowl meals, and these bowls are big enough to hold a full meal. The wide rim allows us to rest chiles, bread, or other nibbly things on it; it also makes a full bowl easy to pick up. And--now this is important--the bowl is not too deep, so we can lick it clean after ice cream without getting ice cream all over our faces! Third, these bowls are really sturdy. We're not what you'd call delicate in the kitchen, and we've banged these bowls around quite a lot (I hate to admit). They stand up to our less-than-careful treatment. For everyday use, their sturdiness is a must. Fourth, they can go in the microwave, in the oven, and in the fridge with no problems. Gotta love being able to uncover some leftovers and pop them straight into the microwave or oven without having to switch to a different cooking vessel. Fifth, they look really good. We have the cobalt bowls, but at such a great price we will be getting some of the other colors to mix and match for a fun festive (fiesta?!?) table for casual stuff. So here's the run-down: * Functional * Durable * Attractive * Affordable Exactly what we wanted! |
