American Weigh Bio-Weigh Fitness Scale
The American Weigh Bio-Weigh Fitness Scale lets you view a complete breakdown of your body fat, water, muscle and bone. The scale works on the principle of BIA (Bio Impedance Analysis). By passing a safe electrical current through your body via the metal contacts and using weight, height and age data, your lean / fat-free body mass is calculated. This is then subtracted from your body weight to obtain body fat mass. You can use the included USB cable and WeighTrak software to upload your scale's stored data to a PC. Note: although the scale uses a safe electrical current, those with pacemakers or other electronic implants should not use this scale's body fat feature.

Owner Reviews & Criticism
Having a smart scale that can give you % of fat, bone, water and muscle sounds like a marvelous idea -- a way to tell if you are getting bloated from water retention, or whether added weight is coming from fat or muscle. A great idea which does not realize its potential in this scale. The scale didn't consistently go from showing the weight to the %'s so the scale itself seems to have some sort of problem. Then I installed the reporting software on my Windows 7 computer. The software was designed for Windows Vista and XP so is old to begin with. When you try to set it to Windows 7 compatibility there are still bugs which prevent you from being able to import the data from the scale. I emailed American Scale Company customer support to see if there were any software updates. They said no, yet still claimed the software works on Windows 7 even though it didn't work on my Windows 7 system. I do software testing for a living and there is nothing unusual about my Windows 7 system. To me there is a clear bug in the software that they could easily correct but they won't acknowledge. They told me if it didn't work on my Windows 7 system the only thing I could do was return it which I did. This product has a lot of potential but until they hire some experienced software developers I would not recommend this product.
